I joined Sisters in Fitness classes January, 2008 | SIF Running Club April 2011 | Started instructing August, 2013.
My aunt and fellow instructor (Sandra) was part of the running group and during fitness classes a few of us would chat about the group.
I loved listening to them and seeing the happiness that running had brought them.
I decided that I wanted to see what the running group was all about!
April 2011 – nervous and way overdressed I forced myself out the door and headed to my first ever “run”.
I started off like all beginners – run 1 minute/walk 1 minute and it just went from there.
It wasn’t easy that first night and it probably wasn’t easy for a while after but I loved the energy of the group, I loved being outside and it didn’t bother me one bit that at times I was at the back of the pack – I was determined!
When I started running I just wanted to run, to be part of something and to improve my health – I had no intentions of doing any “races” and remember saying “races are not for me”!
June 2011 – I registered and completed my first ever road race (The Soriee 8km) and the races just kept coming. I don’t run to be fast or to “win” – I just run because I can and I enjoy it.
I have met many wonderful people, made forever running buddies, witnessed goals and accomplishments by other runners and have been part of some really great moments.
Running has truly changed my life and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Now it’s your turn to change your life – come see what we are all about!
“It never gets easier, you just get tougher”- unknown
